Marriage: Where Do You Stand? (Standing Alone)

LISTEN to the message HERE.

MESSAGE NOTES

“As the Scriptures say, ‘A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one. So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”  Ephesians 5:31-33

“But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband.”   1 Corinthians 7:2

“So I say to those who aren’t married and to widows — it’s better to say unmarried, just as I am.  But if they can’t control themselves, they should go ahead and marry.  It’s better to marry than burn with lust.”   1 Corinthians 7:8-9

“I want you to be free from the concerns of this life. An unmarried man can spend his time doing the Lord’s work and thinking how to please him.”  1 Corinthians 7:32

“Then the LORD God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made.”  Genesis 2:8

“The LORD God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.”  Genesis 2: 15

“Then the LORD God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone.  I will make a helper who is just right for him.’ So the LORD God formed from the ground all the wild animals and all the birds of the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would call them, and the man chose a name for each one. He gave names to all the livestock, all the birds of the sky, and all the wild animals. But still there was no helper just right for him.”
So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the LORD God took out on e of the man’s ribs and closed up the opening. Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.   ‘At last!’ the man exclaimed.  ’This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh!  She will be called “woman,” because she was taken from “man”.’  This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.   Now the man and his wife were both naked, but they felt no shame.”  Genesis 2:18-25

#3  Commit to Community and Service
#4  Don’t Stop Doing These Things

THINK ABOUT IT

Have you ever thought about the purposes of your relationships?  What is the end purpose to marriage?

What would you have to do or change in order to be “the person the person you’re looking for is looking for”?
